
The Interdisciplinary Centre for Conservation Science is pleased to announce the Call for Applications for the 2026 A.G. Leventis African Biodiversity Fellowship.
The closing date is 23.59hrs on 1st April 2025.
This prestigious fellowship program was initiated in September 2021 and led by Professor Milner-Gulland, Tasso Leventis Professor of Biodiversity.
It aims to support biodiversity conservation practitioners and researchers from Africa.
Background
The A. G. Leventis African Biodiversity Fellowship Programme provides a unique opportunity for professionals engaged in biodiversity conservation—whether in academia, government, industry, or NGOs—to collaborate with esteemed researchers at the University of Oxford.
This program is designed to enhance the skills, networks, and capabilities of its participants, enabling them to drive positive conservation outcomes in their home countries.
Fellowship recipients will spend up to three months at Oxford, engaging in training, networking, and collaborative projects.
With generous backing from the A. G. Leventis Foundation, the program can host three fellows each year, facilitating the exchange of knowledge and fostering long-term partnerships between Oxford researchers and conservation practitioners.
Eligibility Criteria
- This fellowship is exclusively open to African nationals.
- Applicants must be engaged in conservation science or practice and must not currently hold a position at an institution in the U.K. or Europe.
- Individuals at any career stage—whether seasoned professionals or early-career researchers—are encouraged to apply, provided they can demonstrate how their participation will enhance their career, establish new collaborations, or strengthen existing partnerships.
- Prospective fellows must be prepared to commit to spending up to three months in the U.K. and be capable of focusing on their project during this time.
