Role Overview
Under the guidance of the Executive Secretary of the IOC, the Programme Assistant will play a pivotal role in supporting the smooth coordination of office, administrative, and communication tasks integral to the GOOS initiative.
Responsibilities will include drafting correspondence, managing files, assisting in budget preparation, and maintaining information systems. The role requires a strong foundation in financial and administrative tasks, alongside excellent communication skills.
Training and e-Learning Expert
This expert will lead initiatives to enhance the capacity of marine professionals through the OceanTeacher Global Academy.
Responsibilities entail designing training materials, collaborating with global training centers, and leveraging e-learning tools to deliver high-quality training.
Ocean Science Communications Consultant
The consultant will focus on developing and implementing communication strategies that promote ocean science initiatives globally.
This role requires proficiency in creating communication products and managing institutional communications in a multilingual context.
This part-time consultant will engage with key marine biodiversity stakeholders to foster collaboration and enhance data management within the OBIS network. Strong project management and communication skills are essential.
OBIS Data Officer for the EU Project Marco-Bolo
This position focuses on managing data related to the EU-funded marine biodiversity project, ensuring effective data sharing and integration across platforms.
The selected candidate will conduct a bibliometric analysis to assess ocean science publications, aiding in the strategic direction and initiatives of the IOC.
Qualifications and Skills
Ideal Candidates will possess:
Education: Relevant university degrees in marine sciences, communications, public relations, or related fields, depending on the position.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years in relevant roles, with significant international experience preferred, especially in the UN or similar organizations.
Skills: Proficiency in relevant software (e.g., MS Office, Moodle for e-learning), excellent communication, organizational skills, and the ability to operate effectively in diverse teams.
