Internship Opportunity with UNDP’s Biodiversity Finance Initiative (BIOFIN)

Background

BIOFIN aims to address the significant global financial gap for biodiversity, estimated to be between US$ 100 billion and US$ 400 billion annually.

The initiative strives to mobilize financial resources and implement comprehensive finance strategies to sustainably manage biodiversity across up to 132 countries.

Responsibilities

The Admin Intern will play a key role within the BIOFIN global team, contributing to various operational, management, and communication activities, including:

  • Assisting with HR tasks such as onboarding new team members and maintaining HR databases.
  • Supporting travel and event coordination, including preparing related documents and managing logistical details.

  • Aiding procurement-related processes, including asset management and subscriptions.
  • Preparing meeting agendas and documenting minutes.
  • Helping to communicate updates regarding organizational policies.
  • Supporting other relevant ad-hoc activities as needed.

  • Excellent research, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational abilities and a penchant for multi-tasking.
  • A collaborative team player who can effectively work with diverse groups.
  • A commitment to the principles of the United Nations Charter and the UNDP Statement of Purpose.
  • The ability to work independently and take responsibility for deliverables.

Required Skills and Experience

Education:
Candidates must meet at least one of the following at the time of application:

  • Enrolled in a postgraduate degree program.
  • In the final year of a bachelor’s degree program.
  • Recent graduates who can start within one year of graduation.
  • Enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program involving the internship.

Experience:

  • Previous experience in a related area at a national or international level is an asset.
  • Familiarity with management, operations, and event organization is helpful.
  • Experience with communication activities and social media platforms is preferred.

  • Interns do not hold staff member status and cannot represent UNDP in any official capacity.
  • Interns must arrange their own visa and residence documentation well in advance.
