The United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs is pleased to announce the opening of applications for the 2025 Youth for Biosecurity Fellowship.
This unique initiative, designed to empower the next generation of biosecurity leaders from the Global South, includes an online interactive training component and a field visit in Geneva during the Biological Weapons Convention (BWC) Working Group meetings.
About the Initiative
Launched in 2019, the Youth for Biosecurity Initiative addresses the pressing need for youth perspectives in biosecurity discussions, particularly as they relate to disarmament and global health security.
The fellowship aims to bridge the gap between emerging scientists and decision-makers, providing a platform for young voices to contribute to the multilateral discourse surrounding biological weapons.
Over 90% of the world’s youth reside in developing countries, making their engagement essential to fostering innovative solutions and ensuring sustainable outcomes in biosecurity.
The fellowship will once again take place in partnership with key international actors committed to promoting youth engagement in science diplomacy.
