UNESCO, in collaboration with the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, is launching the UNESCO-Equatorial Guinea Fellowship Programme aimed exclusively at young African women scientists.
Recognizing the significant gender disparities in scientific research—where women represent only 32% of researchers in Sub-Saharan Africa—this fellowship program seeks to empower female researchers to actively contribute to the scientific and technological development of their countries.
About the Fellowship
The fellowship will award two exceptional young women scientists in the life sciences an annual grant of $25,000, totaling $50,000 for the program.
The Grant Disbursement will be as follows:
- $23,000 of the grant will be provided in advance at the start of the project.
- $2,000 will be provided upon submission of a final report at the end of the fellowship period, detailing the project’s results and the use of the funds.
This funds innovative research proposals that can be completed within one year and support the fellows in advancing their scientific careers.
